Activision Blizzard is the company formed from the merger of Blizzard Entertainment, owned by Vivendi Games, and Activision, the video game producer behind Call of Duty. The merger was finalized as Activision Blizzard on July 9th, 2008.[2][3]

Vivendi became the majority shareholder of Activision Blizzard[4] with 54% of the stock.[2]

Almost no change is expected at Blizzard Entertainment, and it and Activision will continue to exist as separate entitites.[5]

The holding company does not publish games under its central name and instead uses its subsidiaries to publish games, similar to how Vivendi Games operated before the merger.[6]

Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. will remain as Blizzard's brand.[7]

Details can be found at the FAQ.[7]
