Augustgrad

From StarCraft Wiki

The capital of Korhal, Augustgrad

Augustgrad is the capital city of Korhal, restored from Confederate destruction.[1] Lying on a desert plain with mountains to its north, the city is exceptionally expansive with the core of the city on higher ground than the outlying regions to the southwest on the banks of a river. The city became the capital of the Terran Dominion and during the Brood War the UED judged it to be the most heavily fortified city in the Dominion.[2]

[edit] Establishment and Fall

Augustgrad, the "restored" capital of Korhal,[1] was established as the capital of the newly formed Terran Dominion a few weeks after the fall of the Terran Confederacy.[3] When the United Earth Directorate invaded Korhal, Augustgrad was at the center of their battle plan.[4] Despite a long drawn out defense,[5] the UED forces eventually succeeded in taking the city.[6]

[edit] Reclamation

"Raynor, you and Fenix will strike at the more outlying fortification, while my forces are busy assaulting the main UED base at Augustgrad."
Infested Kerrigan[src]

Augustgrad was eventually liberated by an alliance of Infested Kerrigan's zerg, Raynor's Raiders and Dominion remnants.[7] While Kerrigan's zerg attacked Augustgrad proper, the Raiders and protoss forces attacked the outlying fortification. Augustrad was successfully reclaimed and fortified by General Duke. Shortly thereafter, though, Kerrigan betrayed her allies, destroying Mengsk's base of operations and killing General Duke.[6]

In the four years since the Brood War, Augustgrad has been extensively decontaminated, modernized and beautified by Dominion tax dollars. It now features parks, statues of Mengsk and his imperial palace.[8]
