Auza, also known as Incubus, was the cerebrate in control of Incubus Brood, featuring as a minor character in StarCraft: Insurrection. As the Incubus Brood lacked the sheer destructive capacity of most of the larger broods, Auza's forces were most often directed towards smaller fringe colonies and settlements. Auza's skills lay primarily in scouting and deception, deeply rooting his forces behind the enemy lines and tactically striking them until they collapse in on themselves, often before Incubus Brood's presence was discovered. Auza preferred to use defilers, queens and infested terrans.[1]

History[]

Auza's brood launched an invasion of Brontes IV but was stymied by the efforts of the New Dresdin Outlaws[2] and an alliance between these terrans and protoss.[3]

They were assisted by the Fist of Redemption, terran rebels who believed the zerg to be their saviors and who were never far away from the brood's operations.[2]

Downfall[]

However, a protoss attack led by Aedus/Xerxes destroyed the primary resource base of the Incubus Brood in the Valley of the Shadow.[4]

The lack of resources forced Auza into rashly attacking the primary 7th Fleet stronghold, but this was met with a devastating defeat.[5]

In an attempt to quickly bolster their numbers Incubus Brood infested a large amount of the Fist of Redemption, with Auza personally assimilating its leader, the ghost Atticus Carpenter. This fatally backfired as the powerful psychic mind of Carpenter proved to be too strong for Auza's own mind. Carpenter was able to establish full control over both Auza's body and brood.[6]

The Overmind noticed that Carpenter's mind was taking over Auza.[7]

Auza's physical body was destroyed along with Carpenter's mind by zerg forces at the completion of the invasion.[8]

Trivia[]

Auza was frequently referred to as "Incubus" by the Overmind and Aedus/Xerxes.
