Chrysalis
From StarCraft Wiki
A chrysalis is a type of cocoon used by the zerg to infest terrans. Most experiments yielded poor results.[1]
One "success" came in the form of Infested Kerrigan. She in turn used this method in projects infesting terrans.[1] The process was usually a failure,[1] but it proved to be successful with Ethan Stewart.[2]

In StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Raynor's Raiders can collect genetic information from chrysalises with SCVs. This grants bonus damage to infantry.[6]
