Revolution Overdrive Songs of Liberty ST - 08 - American Trilogy

"American Trilogy" is a terran song composed by Mickey Newbury and performed by Brian Bode.[1][2]

History[]

"American Trilogy" was recorded by an unknown artist Brian "A" Bode, when an 8-track recording of the song was found in the back of a freezer behind a frozen turkey. Since then the song has been digitally restored, and has caught the imagination of many terrans of the Koprulu sector. Humbert H. considers the track to be an example of anti-Dominion subversive music. The song was banned by the Terran Dominion under Arcturus Mengsk. The song later featured in the album Revolution Overdrive: Songs of Liberty as an example of the best of anti-Dominion music.[1]

Lyrics[]

Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Oh I wish I was in Dixie, away, away
In Dixieland I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie
For Dixieland, that's where I was born
Early Lord one frosty morning
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland

Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on
His truth is marching on

So hush little baby
Don't you cry
You know your daddy's bound to die
But all my trials, Lord will soon be over

Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on
His truth is marching on
His truth is marching on

Game Effect[]

The music can be played by the Hyperion's jukebox. It will not play upon entering the cantina however, and must either be switched to or waited for.[2]

Notes[]

"An American Trilogy" was a song medley arranged by Mickey Newbury and popularized by Elvis Presley. It is a combination of the three American folk songs "Dixie," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "All My Trials."
