Pfaff was a member of Nero's reaper squad. After a raid on a military science facility, his fellow reaper Kern convinced him and Rock to turn in their commanding officer for unstable actions.

Years later, Nero escaped his execution and tracked Pfaff down at his new job, operating an SCV (which required dodging security — he claimed to have been trained by "the best"). In order to live, Pfaff bartered information on Kern's location. Nero took the information and killed Pfaff anyway.[2]
