Gunship

Gunships are terran vessels once used in conjunction with capital ships (eg. the battlecruiser) before the development of small, dynamic high-speed fighters (eg. the Wraith). It was found that these small craft could deal out a similar amount of damage to capital ships while evading most defensive battery attacks. Gunships were phased out entirely in the wake of these developments as they have yet to be portrayed in the StarCraft universe.
