The high templar in StarCraft II is a spell caster with no attack. It retains the Psionic Storm ability.

Overview

High templar are strong against marines, stalkers, and hydralisks, and weak against ghosts, zealots, and roaches.

Any combination of two high templar/dark templar can sacrifice themselves, transforming into an archon.

Psionic Storm deals 80 damage in the target area in small packets over 2.85 seconds, and hits both air and ground units. It injures friendly units caught in the area of effect of 1.5.[1]
Psionic storm is smartcast.
Psionic Storm is subject to a short delay before striking; during this brief period there is a visual indicator for where it will strike.

The high templar lost the Plasma Surge ability as of June 2009 and gained Time Rift instead.[2]

The high templar used to have the Hallucination ability.[3]

The high templar used to have the Force Field ability.[4]

    Plasma Surge is no longer in the multiplayer version of the game, but will still be in the editor.

    The Dark Pylon is now known as the Obelisk - primarily because it no longer cloaks units and no longer provides pylon power/supply. This change was mostly due to balance, since it is relatively easy to spam Dark Pylons everywhere and instantly have a Psi Storm recharge point to decimate incoming forces.
