Overview
Edit
The emulator was developed by Egon Stetmann for Raynor's Raiders during the Second Great War. Stetmann based it on research into zerg DNA, where he located the Overmind's original strain. The strain provided enough insight on how the Overmind controlled the Swarm for it to be reproduced.[1]
Game Unit
Edit
The emulator is unlocked in the zerg research tree after acquiring 25 zerg research points in Hyperion's laboratory.[1]

Abilities
Edit
Mind Control: The emulator can permanently mind control a zerg unit for 50 energy at a range of 9. Hive mind emulators cannot control heroic units or drones. Mind controlled zerg will count towards player control. Hive mind emulators can control as many zerg as their energy allows, and players do not lose control of zerg if hive mind emulators are destroyed.

Development
Edit
The hive mind emulator was the last terran structure designed for Wings of Liberty. More work went into its design than some other terran structures.[3]
