The MULE (named with all capitals)[4] is a robotic terran mining vehicle. It is still in the prototype stage and has a limited battery life.[3]

Game Unit

MULEs are summoned from an orbital command and arrive via drop pod, with one MULE per drop.[2] MULEs have a limited life span.[3] They cannot build or repair like the SCV,[5][6] but they can mine resources.[2]

MULEs can carry three times more minerals than SCVs[7] and can mine from the same mineral patch as an SCV.[8]

Notes

The orbital command can summon a MULE to assist SCVs in their resource collection. MULEs have a timed life.[3] They are dropped one at a time.[2] The animation takes 5-10 seconds.[10]

If the ability is targeted on a mineral patch, the MULE will automatically begin harvesting from it.[11]

Development

MULEs used to have attack and repair capabilities[2] but lost them as of April 2009.[12]

  12. True, as long as you have line of sight on the spot, you can drop MULE. On the enemy's Siege Tanks, on a ramp, etc. However MULE can't attack or repair. Cydra. 2009-04-23. Blues -- can the OC call down mules anywhere? Battle.net StarCraft II General Discussion Forum. Accessed 2009-04-24.
