Mining Station Alpha is a mining instillation on the planet Shi. It contains data on the mineral wealth of the outlying planets of the Baker's Dozen.
After the fall of Tarsonis, a group of four Old Family children were sent to Shi alongside a contingent of Terran Confederacy remnants. They landed on Mining Station Alpha, which was mostly abandoned. The children wandered the base, commenting on the advanced state of decay. They used the facility to scan the nearby system for mineral content. Three months later, they detected a drop pod that entered the atmosphere, unbeknownst to them carrying a zerg drone. A month following that, the Confederates were caught out of position near Tendril Canyon when the zerg attacked, were and forced to fall back to Drill Site #3 instead of Mining Station Alpha.
