Terran Dominion prison planet |
New Folsom is a planet in the Koprulu Sector. It has an erratic orbit, unstable crust, and passes through two major asteroid fields. The asteroid fields make the planet accessible to only heavily armored ships.[1]
It is home to New Folsom Prison, based in a giant volcano caldera.[2]
History
Edit
The Terran Confederacy discovered New Folsom to be a rich source of catalytic materials required for the production of neosteel.
The Confederacy made four attempts to establish a mining colony on New Folsom. In the last attempt, a team of experts, including terraforming engineers were conscripted into designing a platform system to flex and shift with the crust while providing a "minimally survivable" habitat for the workforce. The expensive project resulted in some deaths, but eventually the New Folsom Confederate Mine was constructed on one of the stabler lava lakes. Its products were used to construct a fleet of battlecruisers.
Shortly afterward, the same catalytic elements which had drawn the Confederacy to New Folsom were discovered in the Sara System. The expensive facility was reconfigured into the New Folsom Prison.
After the Fall of Tarsonis, the Terran Dominion took control of the planet. They continued to use the prison for its previous purpose.[1]
