[edit] Overview

The Observer
The Observer

The Observer is a small aerial drone employed by the protoss to survey vast wastelands, observe and record battles for study and for deep-space exploration. Their complex sensor array leaves little energy for defenses but can detect cloaked and concealed units with ease. When deployed in a battle zone, they are equipped with a micro-cloaking field.[1]

The Observer is also seemingly capable of traveling through Warp space, although this may require the aid of other craft.[2]

Observers are the protoss' mobile detectors. Although Observers are 'permanently' cloaked protoss players must be more alert to enemy anti-cloak units; the Observer's low health gives little time to escape attackers. Observers are cheap enough to have a handful accompany an attack force, especially against a target with many detectors.

The Observer is produced from the Robotics Facility and requires an Observatory to be warped in. This is where its speed and sensory range can be upgraded.[4]
