The overseer is a zerg unit evolved from the overlord.

Overview

Overseers are genetically altered overlords. They grow additional hypersensitive eyes. Each developmental cycle has improved on them, eventually enabling them to detect enemies hiding with camouflage techniques.[1]

Game Unit

The overseer loses the ability to excrete creep or transport units, but gains the ability to create changelings. It continues to provide control and has faster movement.

Abilities

This unit or structure can detect cloaked, burrowed, duplicated and hallucination enemies.

Overseer SC2 Head1

The overseer

The overseer was developed as the universal overlord detection in StarCraft I made the zerg "detectorific". As such, the overlord/overseer split makes cloaking more useful to a zerg's opponent.[3]
