Repair bots can be found in the With Friends Like These... mission where they can be used to fully repair the Hyperion and it's tac fighters. The Hyperion approached a repair bot, which would disappear, instantly repairing the Hyperion. They were originally designed to repair hulls damaged by asteroid impacts.
