The scantipede is a creature found on Monlyth,[1] Char[2] Vardona,[3] and Typhon XI.[4] The scantipede is described as a "ferocious predator", but it lacks the natural weaponry to harm military units.[5]
Fried scantipede legs are consumed by terrans.[6]

Heart of the Swarm
"Parasites swarm within its exoskeleton. Upon exposure to its spray the victim is quickly impregnated with parasites which burst from their unwilling corpse."

The parasitic scantipede appears in the campaign of Heart of the Swarm. It has the ability to inject its parasite into the victims of its attacks. It deals 20 damage with an attack similar to the roach. It is required to be killed to obtain the corpser strain, which generates roachlings in a similar manner.[8]
