[edit] StarCraft

The spawning pool gives larvae the ability to morph into zerglings and the hatchery the ability to evolve into the lair. The spawning pool is also responsible for evolving the zergling with Metabolic Boost (faster movement) and Adrenal Glands (faster attack).[1]

  11. zerglings develop their wings after the +speed upgrade, before that there's no wings because it's part of the evolution look. Similar to banelings crawling on the ground but once upgraded then it will roll, it's all about the upgrade display looks.
