Starbow differs from StarCraft II in the following ways:
- Units are more spread out and move at separate movements speeds.
- Extraction of resources is slower, and resource patches are fewer. This is to encourage establishing outposts.
Development on Starbow began in 2011 by Björn “Kabel” Lindgren. Disatisfied with StarCraft II, Lindgren identified why he enjoyed Brood War more. He identified these elements as speed, multi-tasking, and decision-making. Development lasted two years. It was released to public scrutiny in January, 2012.
Starbow launched on Team Liquid, and found Reddit and Twitter followings.
