This has potentially been considered before, but the current approach to Dylar IV, while it has merit, seems to be in opposition to the Wiki's current policy.

I, Mengsk contradicting Alternity is one thing, as under the current policy, they're of the same tier of canon. I'd be more inclined to side with the latter here, as while the RPG setting is based on the concept of Dylar IV being a desert world, all we get from I, Mengsk is the idle mention of Dylar IV being a gas giant. It isn't even portrayed as a gas giant, but only mentioned as such with Mengsk and Horner at the shipyards. And as we know from Tyrador X, it wasn't the first planetary typo McNeil made.

Another thing to consider is the manual of the original game, which mentions Dylar IV being infested by the zerg, unnoticed by its denziens. How the zerg would be able to infest a gas giant is somewhat dubious, considering gravity, radiation and the lack of solid material, without there being any soil to infest akin to Chau Sara. And being a Core World that would rely on shipyards for its status, how the zerg could hang around a gas giant is somewhat dubious.

Overall, it appears that IM is in violation of a higher tier of canon. Regardless of Alternity, the manual strongly suggests that Dylar IV is terrestrial and while the gas giant assertion is worthy of a mention in trivia, I can't see it as being able to contest its counterparts.--Hawki 23:53, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Ah, good point, I forgot about the infestation in the manual. Kimera 757 (talk) 00:48, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
