Source[]

Found the source, it's in the faction description list. Don't have time to edit now, but feel free to use the writings/images.--Hawki (talk) 00:46, October 11, 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, my bad! Already edited it in... CombatMagic (talk) 00:48, October 11, 2015 (UTC)

Categorization[]

Something I'd like thoughts on concerning article categorization.

I've categorized the purifiers as a protoss kindred, mainly because they're listed as one of the four protoss bodies in the LotV faction doc (the others being Templar (Khalai), Nerazim, and Tal'darim). That the Tal'darim are a bona fide 'third body' is something I've been inclined towards for awhile now, but that aside, using the document as a basis, the purifiers seem to be fourth. While I'm not as inclined personally to categorize them as such (e.g. there's no cultural trait that we know of that they possess, while the other three can be distinguished in such a manner), I feel this categorization reflects how Blizzard has portrayed protoss groups.

The second issue is whether they should be categorized in the "races" category. On one hand, early phrasing, as I recall, refers to them as "an ancient robotic race," so there's that. And indeed, the primal zerg are also categorized in the races template. However, I'm reminded of the following issues:

  • The purifiers are being listed as a protoss faction. And if we're bringing gameplay into this, they're still part of the overall protoss game army, and that includes multiplayer.
  • Do robotic constructs count as a separate race? This would depend on setting, but for instance, we don't classify artificial intelligence in the races category, nor any other terran or protoss robot. While the purifiers are distinguished by being an overall group of robots, they remain robots nonetheless.
  • Neither for or against, suppose we get "Bob the Purifier" as a character in LotV. Technically, "Purifier" would be in his race field - not necessarily "protoss (formerly)," as from what we have, this seems to be conciousness replication rather than transfer, so "Bob the Protoss" would have existed separately. Yet, this is still getting close to infested terran territory, which have "terran (formerly) in the race field, and "infested terran" next. Yet we don't classify IT's as a separate race either (though we do mutates - canonicity aside, they at least have sapience and can exist free from the zerg, while IT's are drones that don't exist apart).

So, yeah. Not sure myself, but for now, I've left the categories in. However, opinions are welcomed.--Hawki (talk) 08:19, October 15, 2015 (UTC)

For me they must be counted "Protoss", because in-game too Artanis and others characters treat them like others Protoss, and Probes, Reavers, Sentries, ecc... are counted Protoss even if they are robots--PRISON KEEPER (talk) 09:50, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

"Quadrapedal form"[]

The quote at the top about quadrupedal form is not practical, at least in how its worded. It could however be expanded to actually give better information to the article as a whole.

What it should say (but apparently you cant edit here) is that "Fenix(the not yet renamed Talandar) is the only completed prototype Purifier of the new generation and therefore at the time of creation was unique; the only one to have the new Immortal chassis as his encompassing form. The "original" generation of the Purifiers are typically robotic representations of their infantry forces or pilots of various war machines with a full AI personality. The new generation brought in the blueprints for a new generation of quadrupedal ground support like the Immortal and Stalker to boost the Purifier forces' flexibility. The existing Immortal pilots, with their dedication to eternal service, were a perfect fit for the process of replication into purifier form. All of these would combine to provide a very durable and deadly backbone to the Daaelam forces."

Prior to this he isnt the only quadruped as colossus do exist, so even the non-descript language isnt correct in its vagueness.
