Theoretically, the earliest that the Torrasque could have broken away from the Swarm would be after the destruction of the original Overmind. A power vacuum existed within the Zerg Swarm,[1][2] one which had the Zerg running rampant.[3] Although Infested Kerrigan eventually rose to the position of ruler of the Zerg, it is unlikely that the extent of her control is on the same level of the Overmind, thus allowing the Torrasque's independence.
