The templar archives are dark, mysterious buildings that serve as training centers for the legions of both the high templar and, during the Brood War, the dark templar.

Contents

[edit] Overview

The high templar, charged with wielding the awesome psionic powers of their race, use the archives to access memories and strands of experience from the Khala[1] and thereby gain knowledge inaccessible to ordinary warriors.[2]

[edit] StarCraft

In StarCraft, the archives allow the production of high templar and researches their more advanced psychic abilities.[2] In StarCraft: Brood War, the archives also allow the production of dark templar from the gateway and researches dark archon abilities and upgrades.

Notes

The high templar selects a unit, creating two duplicates of it. Hallucinations appear with a blue tint to the creating and controlling player, while all other players will see them as duplicates of the original. Hallucinations do not inflict damage when they "attack", may not cast spells, or produce units (important for hallucinated carriers and reavers), and take double damage from all attacks. Hallucinations last for a limited time and automatically disappear when hit by spells (eg. EMP shockwave, mind control).

Notes

The high templar can create a storm of raw psychic energy. This is achieved by one closing their mind to the outside world, sending out psychic "ripples" that are disruptive to other lifeforms.

Inflicts 112 damage to all units within a certain area over seven seconds. The storm does not harm structures or units within bunkers. Units may move out from under the storm thus limiting the damage they take. It is most effective against groups of weaker units clustered together. A few Psionic Storms are sometimes even enough to turn back large fleets of powerful vessels such as battlecruisers or carriers or a large attack force of mixed units.

This article or section contains information about a StarCraft II unit or structure.

The content may be significantly out of date as StarCraft II experiences a new build weekly and may change substantially as more information becomes available. Please do not add speculation to this article, and remember to cite a published source for details.

The templar archives in StarCraft II is a requirement for producing high templar in addition to providing upgrades such as psionic storm and Khaydarin Amulet. It no longer provides the ability to summon dark templar; this has been moved to the dark shrine.[5]

Notes

Psionic Storm deals 80 damage[8] in the target area[11] in small packets over time,[12] and hits both air and ground units.[13] It injures friendly units caught in the area of effect.[14]

Psionic storm is smartcast.[15]

Psionic Storm is subject to a short delay before striking; during this brief period there is a visual indicator for where it will strike.[16]

  13. Psi Storm hits both ground and air. Also, I wanted to add to question 1 that Roaches seem very strong with their regeneration, but with even a little bit of micro management, they are pretty easy to kill. In theory crafting, they seem much stronger than they actually are, though you must counter them with either very specific units of spend additional micromanagement time on them. Siege Tanks, Stim Packed Marines, Stalkers, Immortals, Dark Templars, Hydras, and any air to ground unit, are all effective at killing Roaches with a little micromanagement. Karune. 2008-05-15. 15. As already mentioned in this thread, you’ll have to press the key only once and all the siege tanks will go in siege mode. Some other examples, just to clarify things up:

Stalker’s Blink, Zerg’s Burrow, Battle cruiser’s Defensive Matrix, Baneling’s Explode, Viking’s switching from air-mode to ground-mode: you’ll only have to press the key once to trigger the ability for all the selected units at once (be careful with those Banelings!)

High Templar’s Psi Storm, Disruptor’s Force Field, Zerg’s mutations (Zerglings to Banelings, etc.): smart casting will kick in here and you’ll have to press the key for every selected unit.
