Trevor Joe "Smokin' Joe" Jacobs (otherwise known as TJ) was a terran exterminator-turned outlaw. He had a gravelly voice.[1]

Jacobs was employed by Kel-Morian guilds on Boone in 2498. He worked numerous jobs, including demolitions, and as a mine weevil exterminator. As an exterminator, Jacobs tested experimental poisons in the deepest mine shafts; the poisons failed and he adopted CMC-660 armor to burn the creatures instead. The toxins caused terminal cancer and despite strenuous effort Jacobs secured only minimal medical compensation from the guilds, which claimed the cancer was self-imposed. Shortly afterward, he left to form the Players' Club, an opportunistic pirate group of thugs and other miners disillusioned with the Kel-Morian Combine. Over the years, Jacobs and his band proved to be a thorn in the sides of both the Combine and the Terran Dominion.[1]

Jacobs, however, was fighting a losing battle. His cancer was eating away at him and by 2504, the outlaw knew that he was nearing the end of his life. In a final attack on the Combine, Jacobs used former friends, agents on the mining asteroid of Chanuk to plant explosives in an effort to destroy the site and the Morians who worked on it.

However, the Players' Club also had to deal with a Dominion Marine Corps force assigned to deal with the outlaw group. During the battle, Jacobs clashed with marauder Isaac White. The two engaged in close combat and fell down a mining shaft. White was badly injured and stuck in an elevator shaft until the Dominion could rescue him.[1]

Afterward the Club set the countdown for their bombs for a little over an hour. White spent most of the time finding and disarming the explosives. As he reached the last charge, Jacobs attacked him. The two clashed as the countdown reached zero. However, White was able to hurl Jacobs away and throw the last charge to "safety"—Jacobs' location. Chanuk was saved.[1]

He may be named after Blizzard employee and animator Trevor Jacobs.[2]
