Use Map Settings is a selectable game type in StarCraft and StarCraft II in which the game will follow the scripted scenario the map was created with, if any.

Unlike typical game types, such as melee, or free for all, use map settings games are often drastically different from the melee experience. Many user UMS games are based upon movies, books, or other video games. Many times they involve more triggers and a storyline, and often doesn't set as much store upon building a base, or many other things used in melee or free for all maps.
