One of the Terran's functional energy weapons, the others being lasers. Before first contact with the Protoss and Zerg, Battlecruisers were armed with Nukes as their primary super weapon. These were eventually superseded by the Yamato Cannon for its greater use in precision targeting. The Yamato Cannon is basically a Nuclear explosion focused through magnetic fields. By the events of the Protoss and Zerg incursion, the process of focusing the blast takes almost half the explosions power: 260, compared to a nuke: 500. Due to power requirements, most Terran energy weapons are found on vehicles rather than infantry units.
